Apitherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses bee-derived products such as honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, and bee venom for medicinal purposes. Scientific interest in these natural compounds has increased significantly due to their anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. In this article, we review the diseases that have been investigated in relation to apitherapy, including osteoarticular disorders, respiratory diseases, metabolic conditions, and digestive disorders, as well as the potential role of bee products within integrative medicine.
Bee therapy for arthritis and osteoarthritis has gained increasing attention due to the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory effects of bee venom (apitoxin). Scientific studies have shown its potential to modulate inflammatory pathways, reduce joint pain, and improve function in patients with chronic joint diseases.
